Henry County Historic Preservation Commission meets

The Henry County Historic Preservation Commission held its April Meeting on Wednesday at the Henry County Courthouse. In attendance were Johanna Crawford, Caroline Lehman, Joel Garretson, Judy Rawson, Larry D. Roth, Mary Savage, Pat White, and guest Supervisor Chad White.

An update was provided on the Wayland Historic District nomination project and a determination from the state is expected on June 9.

There are 46 copies of "The Rural Schools of Henry County" book still available at the auditor's office. An update was provided on the current book project "Cemeteries of Henry County." The commission plans to have the book in draft form by summer with just a few sections left to complete.

There was a reminder that the Henry Co. Heritage Trust is sponsoring a tour of six historic churches in Mt. Pleasant on April 30 from 1-4 p.m.

The next commission meeting will be May 17 at 1 p.m. at the Henry County Courthouse.
