Henry County Historic Preservation Commission minutes

The Henry County Historic Preservation Commission met May 21, 2025 at the Henry County Heritage Center. Present at the meeting were commissioners Chad Brousseau, Joel Garretson, Caroline Lehman, Judy Rawson, Mary Savage, Pat White, and guest Jeff McPheron.

The agenda, April minutes, and treasurer's report were approved. Long time Commissioner Martha Francy recently passed away and her knowledge and expertise of local history will be greatly missed. She worked on many of the Commission's history books among the many other historical projects she was involved in.

There are several historic sites in the county that warrant the placement of a brown historic marker; the six sided CB & Q RR Depot and the Oakland Mills TTT Country Club. The Commission will be working on the wording of the signs. Pat White has completed the research and text for the Henry County Historic Guide Book with the next step being the creation of maps, the collection of photographs, and formatting the book for publication.

The next meeting will be June 18, 2025 at the Henry County Heritage Center at 1 p.m.
