MT. PLEASANT — Henry County was well represented by Kara Hoover at the Iowa State Fair this year.
“When she was up at the State Fair, she was representing Henry County all the way,” Kara’s mother Kristina Hoover said. “She wore her Henry County Fair Princess Crown and Sash and even met the newly crowned Iowa State Fair Queen.”
Kara is the 2022 Henry County Fair Princess and participated in the Bill Riley Talent Show at the state fair and as she performed and dedicated her performance to the Henry County Fair Queen Chevy Mills.
She performed the same dance number at the State Fair as she did on the Henry County Fair stage, a lyrical Contemporary fusion solo to “Can’t Stop the Girl” choreographed by Megan Denning at Soul Expressions Dance Studio.
As the only Henry County semifinalist in the Bill Riley Talent show at the state fair level, it is no wonder she was so well received when she competed in Mt. Pleasant.
In order to make it to the state fair level, Kara first had to compete and qualify at the Des Moines County Fair.
On Aug. 15 Kara was chosen as a semifinalist and was asked to perform live on TV.
“I loved meeting all the other really talented kids from across the state,” Kara said. “I made memories I will treasure forever.”
According to Kristina, Kara did not make the finals this year, but with her semifinalist position she is already qualified to compete at the State Fair level next year.
“She did so awesome,” her mother said.
“It makes me want to work even harder knowing for sure I will be competing at the state level again,” Kara said.
