WINFIELD — High-Five Fridays at Winfield-Mt. Union (WMU) Elementary School have become a cherished tradition, fostering a sense of community and excitement among students, parents, and staff. These weekly events are designed to create memorable experiences and strengthen the bond within the school community, and this week’s did just that.
Last Friday, Dec. 20 the event was especially festive, featuring visits from Santa and Elementary Principal Karinda Wahls dressed as an Elf on the Shelf. Both characters greeted students as they were dropped off by parents or arrived via bus.
For parent Emily Robison and her child, the event was nothing short of magical.
“My child was so happy when he saw the elf and Santa greet him as he got out of the car,” Robison shared. “He saw them and said, ‘This is going to be a great day!’”
While the Candy Land themed decorations and enthusiastic greetings from the characters brought plenty of joy and excitement to all the students, Robinson saw the event as much more than just a fun nod to the winter holidays.
“The effort the administrators put forth to make this event special for the kids means the world to me,” Robison said. “I truly believe each and every staff member loves each child at our school!”
The cheerful atmosphere set the tone for the day as does every High-Five Friday thoughtfully put together for students at WMU.
“I love that the school has created such a fun activity to make memories of weekly,” Robison said. “This event, like other Fridays, shows the school spirit and a welcoming atmosphere for the students!"
High-Five Friday is a shining example of how WMU fosters a sense of community and holiday spirit. The tradition continues to build memories for students, supported by the dedication of a caring and creative staff.
