RIVERSIDE—Highland Elementary hosted a Trunk or Treat event in the school parking lot, Sunday.
Parents and community members filled parking spots with silly and spooky decorated trunks.
While most trunks handed out candy, Melissa Ruth of the elementary parent group gave trick or treaters freeze pops, thanks to the unseasonably warm weather.
Girl Scout Troop 9632 gave out s’mores cookies and lemonade, and Highland Preschool Teacher Megan Eaton gave children Eaton Good Kettle corn.
After hitting all of the trunks for treats, children enjoyed playtime on the playground.
A minion spun dinosaurs, baseball players, and other Halloween characters on the merry-go-round.
A witch and pirate teeter-tottered with wide grins, and nemo frantically ran around the equipment as he avoided his mother’s calls to take a photo.
Additionally, many families waited in line for their turn on the brightly colored barrel train.
Others enjoyed a photo shoot display provided by River City Church to kick off the last week before Halloween.
