MT. PLEASANT — Meticulously manicured nails, skillfully styled hair, attentively applied make up, and dapperly decorated venues top the wish lists of many engaged couples as they set out to plan their dream weddings. Revival Salon & Sanctuary offers all of that and more at their unique venue nestled in Mt. Pleasant.
Located in a century old church, the castle-like venue offers more than a place to hold an intimate ceremony, but many wedding-related services as well.
As a venue the sanctuary can serve as a beautiful backdrop for a small wedding with seating for just under 150 people in a restored 1908 stone church. The space features wood detailing, beautiful chandeliers, and stained-glass windows which help couples realize wedding venues dreams adjacent to the grandeur and whimsy of a castle or the simple intimate feel of a church.
“You know even if they're not using the sanctuary to get married, sometimes they'll want to get the wedding party ready at the salon just so they can have photographs at the castle,” Revival Owner and Hairstylist Gina Burns said. “It does photograph well. It's a beautiful backdrop for photos when the girls are getting ready or maybe even after they've gotten ready. We'd have wedding parties come and do photos even on the front porch with the arches and things like that. So, Revival is also available for those kinds of things.
While Revival isn’t exactly a one-stop wedding shop, the attached salon and grand room do offer wedding parties a unique opportunity as they prepare for their big day. Parties getting ready at the salon can use the grand room as a space for fellowship as they get hair and makeup done before popping over to the sanctuary for the ceremony, snapping photos, or even heading out to another venue altogether.
“We offer a package where they can actually rent the great room and have their entire wedding party just have a place to get ready together,” Burns said “Also, that way it's big enough that if mom or grandma or aunt or whoever wants to come and hang out with the girls that morning, there's space enough, and they can have food and fellowship in the grand room while they're getting their appointments done.”
Revival offers all the services needed to get ready, too. Some of these include hair styling, haircuts, makeup, manicure, pedicure, lashes, facials, and spray tans.
According to Burns, most wedding parties will get hair and makeup done the day of the wedding, but for some other services they will schedule appointments the week before.
Whether wedding parties decide to hold their ceremonies in the sanctuary, take photos at the “castle” or just get ready in the grand room, Burns says she is more than happy to always offer suggestions of other local wedding vendors to check the rest of the items off a couple’s dream wedding wish list.
“We're hoping to bring some additional business to Mt. Pleasant by having a new wedding venue and that way, not only are we bringing business, to our space, but also to the other reception halls, caterers, decorating companies and those types of things,” Burns said. “I think we all plug each other and send business to each other when it comes our way, because we all have our niche that we’re good at. None of us do all of it. So, if we share the love, that will help the brides and grooms to plan their perfect wedding right here and that can be a real blessing.”
According to Burns, Mt. Pleasant is ripe with nearly all the vendors a couple would need to make their dream wedding a reality. Some preferred vendors recommended by Burns include the VFW, Airport Road Vineyard & Winery, Mt. Pleasant Country Club, Swoon Rentals, Sarah’s Bridal Gallery, and From the Heart Flowers.
