Holiday events will fill the weekend in Mt. Pleasant

From a pet-friendly open house to shopping to Christmas lights, holiday cheer will be abundant in Mt. Pleasant

MT. PLEASANT — Holiday events come to Mt. Pleasant this weekend in the form of a vendor show, an open house, and a fun run.

Help to Others will kick off the weekend Saturday, Nov. 18 with a Holiday Vendor and Craft Show with luncheon from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. in Manning Hall of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church.

The event will include a visit with Santa along with vendors offering a large variety of potential Christmas gifts to shop.

A luncheon at the event will include cinnamon rolls, hot turkey dressing sandwiches, hot chicken sandwiches, soups, chili, and bread pudding with hot butter sauce.

Also on Saturday, All God’s Creatures, a new animal shelter in Henry County, invites the public to their Holiday Open House from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.

Pet owners can take advantage of two holiday-themed photo stations to capture memories with their pets. All God’s Creatures will provide digital files for a freewill donation.

After stopping for a snapshot, guests can tour the building and take in the updated designs, make a DIY winter cat house, and enjoy hot chocolate and other refreshments.

All God’s Creatures also will feature their adoptable kittens at the event, offer microchipping for $20, and sell merchandise which supports their cause.

Holiday fun continues over the weekend at Mt. Pleasant Festival of Lights with their annual fun run/walk kickoff event from 5:30-8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

No vehicles may go through the Festival of Lights at this time.

For $5 per person (kids 4 and under are free), holiday light lovers can walk or run the 1.6-milelong route filled with over 140 holiday lighted displays.

Participants can also enjoy the trolleys and log village during their visit.
