MT. PLEASANT — Despite a weekend filled with many opportunities to support the community throughout New London, a small, but enthusiastic group attended the Holiday Stroll’s Annual Soup Supper.
“The annual Soup Supper Event in New London was still a success although many did not attend,” Holiday Stroll organizer Chelsea Boecker said. “We still had families and a group of ladies from Salem who had a nice time and enjoyed the Soup Supper.”
The Holiday Stroll Committee made chili, chicken and noodle soup, and a keto-friendly ham and “potato” soup for the fundraiser.
Additionally, Boecker made many of the desserts for the supper.
“…for desserts we have strawberry pie and then there is a strawberry apple pie baking, right now, brownies, chocolate chip cookies, chocolate pie…” Boecker said in a Facebook live she posted only an hour before the event began.
While this particular fundraiser did not produce the usual amount of support, Boecker looks forward to other fundraisers throughout the year to support the beloved New London Holiday Stroll.
“We are looking forward to nicer weather to start the Santa house project,” Boecker said. “For those that do not know Santa house is going to be getting some much-needed upkeep.”
Boecker encourages anyone interested in making a donation for these renovations to reach out to herself or Linda Vacek at boeckerchelsea@gmail.com or lindavacek@yahoo.com
