MT. PLEASANT — A Henry County Sheriff’s Deputy came across a 2013 Honda Odyssey traveling northbound in the southbound lane in the 1600-grid of Highway 218, Wednesday, Dec. 18 just before 6 p.m.
According to documents filed with Iowa Courts Online, when the deputy pulled over Ana Escoria, 38 of Iowa City, he detected “an odor of alcoholic beverages emitting from the vehicle.” He then administered Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and Preliminary Breath Test.
With a blood alcohol content above 0.08 and failure of tests, Escoria was placed under arrest for Operating While Under the Influence, first offense, a serious misdemeanor. A breath sample at Henry County Jail provided BAC results of 0.209.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
