Seven members of Iowa J hosted this years’ camp girl and 14 of her family and friends for her “send off” to camp. Sandwiches and all that goes with them, chips, cake and watermelon, ice cream sandwiches and bars, along with a variety of drinks fed everyone. All the necessities for camp were on display.
Members presented Ayrn with gifts that were hers to take home and enjoy. All the guests departed after a get-acquainted visit to attend Ayrn’s ball game in Mt. Pleasant.
Sword of Gold was sung to open the business meeting. Georgia Fort read a thank-you note from the WACO After-Prom Committee. Iowa J had 2 seniors and 2 juniors attending Prom who were former Iowa J campers.
Treasurer Lori Messer gave her report which was approved as read and filed for audit. This year’s Audit had been performed and noted all books were in excellent order.
President Georgia Fort will be taking our camper to Camp on June 8 and will be picking her up on June 13. Notes were written by members to send to the camp so camper will receive some mail every day at Camp.
Georgia gave an invitation from Founder’s Chapter A to attend a special Founder’s Day Service on Tuesday, June 3, at 6 p.m. at the First Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant. Seven members of Iowa J plan to attend.
The business meeting closed with repeating The Closing Creed. Then members marked all of the clothing and accessories and packed the big suitcase going to camp. The next regular meeting of Iowa J will be held July 26 at 7 p.m. at the Wayland Community Room.
