IW hosts entertaining February evenings on campus

MT. PLEASANT — Iowa Wesleyan University keeps their campus busy with events like Trivia Night and Around the Campfire Variety Show in the month of February.

Enjoy a night at the IW Social Hall located in the Howe Student Activity Center for a night of trivia Wednesday, Feb. 15 from 7-8:30 p.m.

February’s Trivia Night categories will consist of Black History Month, love and breakup songs, novels made into movies and shows, and cartoon characters.

While the event is free to attend as an individual or a team, attendees can make donations that will support the Humanities Program at IW.

Later in the month, IW will host their annual variety show and mini auction.

“The Variety Show is produced by the IWU Music Department,” Iowa Wesleyan Director of Choral Activities Blair Buffington said.

This event is the largest fundraiser for the university’s music department and assists in funding the IW Choir Spring Tour.

The show “Around the Campfire” opens their doors at the IW Chapel at 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, and will begin the evening’s entertainment at 7 p.m.

According to Buffington, the variety show is a student-led production under the direction of Buffington and his choir council.

A variety of talent including music, poetry, dance, and more performed by students and community members will entertain guests for the evening.

Those purchasing their tickets ahead of time at iw.edu/varietyshow will receive a discount making general admission presale tickets $10, while general admission at the door will cost $15. Student’s may purchase tickets for $5.
