IW students and alumni gear up for Homecoming
Homecoming activities are planned for next weekend

MT. PLEASANT — Iowa Wesleyan University gears up to celebrates 2022-23 homecoming Sept. 30-Oct. 2.
As the IW community gets ready to celebrate homecoming, the classes of ’70, ’71, and ’72 will take time to get reacquainted the morning of Sept. 30.
Students can start off homecoming by checking that their academic are in order and they are on track for graduation in their chosen major at the Celebration of Credits event.
Celebration of credits will run from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Howe Student Activity Center.
Students can also register for December 2022 and May 2023 graduation at this celebration.
Registration for official homecoming events is available from 1-3 p.m. in the Howe Student Activity Center.
From 3-5 p.m. the class of 1972 will host the President’s Reception at the President’s House.
The Kickoff Picnic will run 5-7 p.m. on the campus lawn.
Men’s and Women’s Alumni will play basketball in Ruble Area.
An alumni, parents, and friends reception will take place in the Tiger suite above Ruble Arena 6-8 p.m.
Boom Night runs 7:30-8 p.m. following the alumni basketball games.
The first day of homecoming celebrations will come to an end with an alumni social hosted by the class of ’72 at Mt. Pleasant Golf and Country Club 8 p.m.-midnight.
Saturday, Oct. 1 registration will be available in the same place from 8-11 a.m.
IW will unveil the IW Documentary at 8:30 a.m. in the social hall.
The traditional homecoming parade will begin at 10 a.m. at the Howe Student Activity Center with Valerie and Stan Unkrich as Grand Marshals.
Following the parade, IW will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new IW weight room on the campus lawn.
The front steps of the P.E.O Memorial Building will serve as the backdrop for Class and Greek photos 11-11:45 a.m.
From 11:30 to 1 p.m. an open house around the campus will occur.
Also at 11:30 a.m., homecoming celebrations are invited to continue for the Tiger Fan Zone Tailgate Lunch at the Mapleleaf Athletic Complex with the football game at 1 p.m.
Alumni Awards and Athletic Hall of Fame reception and banquet will begin at 6 p.m. in the Howe Student Activity Center.
After two event filled days on campus, Sunday, Oct. 2 offers just a few activities to wind down the festive weekend.
The University Chapel will host a worship service from 10-11:15 a.m. with a sermon by Rev. Dr. Randall Perry and Rev. Bonnie (Carver) Wilkerson.
The IW choir also will perform and welcomes any alumni to join the choir.
Finally, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. a community homecoming brunch will be held in the Social Hall.
