The Winfield Area Grateful Gathering (WAGG) Event for October will feature WACO’s violin instructor, Holly Reyner, along with several of her students. Winfield’s First Presbyterian Church will host the event on Saturday, Oct. 25, at 3 p.m.
Holly Reyner began studying music at a young age, starting violin at three years old, piano at six, flute in fifth grade, and voice lessons in sixth grade. Raised in Independence, Iowa, Holly was actively involved in church music, concert band, choir, jazz band, marching band, and the Northern Iowa Youth Orchestra at the University of Northern Iowa. Holly earned a degree in music education from Monmouth College in Monmouth, Illinois.
A lifelong enthusiast of fiddle music, she has attended the Leahy Music Camp in Lakefield, Ontario, 15 times, studying extensively with the Leahy family, Natalie MacMaster, Liz Carroll, Troy MacGillivray, and other prominent fiddlers. Currently, Holly performs regularly with the Southeast Iowa Symphony, Knox Galesburg Symphony, Burlington Municipal Band, and Southeast Iowa Band, among other ensembles.
Now entering her fifth year at WACO, she teaches orchestra to students in grades 4 through 12, valuing the positive school culture and exceptional community support. Proud to serve the WACO community, Holly is committed to nurturing student musicianship and frequently leads students to participate in a variety of performance opportunities including taking students to the Iowa State Fair Fiddle Contest and the Versailles Old Thyme Apple Festival Fiddle Contest.
All Winfield and surrounding community members are welcome to join us for some delightful entertainment. Following Ms Reyner’s WAGG presentation, a time for refreshments and fellowship will occur in the basement fellowship hall.
A freewill offering will be collected for the WACO Music Boosters.
