MT. PLEASANT — Families from all over attend The Old Threshers Reunion to enjoy re-enactments, tractor drives, music, food, and an overall wholesome-five-day blast from the past.
Throughout the grounds, kids were afforded the opportunity to play, run, laugh, and make lifetime memories.
“I’ve been coming since I was 2,” Amber McKinney said as she waited in line with her young son to drive a tractor.
She is not alone.
When asked how long people had been attended the event, most answered that it was a family tradition which went back multiple generations.
Kids enjoyed activities like Nick’s Kids Show, Chris Short’s puppet show, music in the family tent, interactive displays of history, sand pits and numerous other activities.
McKenna Daly from Decalb, Illinois, says she has been attending Old Threshers her whole life as her grandfather was one of the founding members of the tractor barn.
“My favorite is Professor Farquar and Polecat Annie,” she said without hesitation.
The Professor and Annie perform a “medicine show” throughout the Reunion in the Log Village.
She was not alone in this being a favorite kids activity.
2021 Miss Sweet Sixteen Volunteer also said the Professor and Annie were her favorite as a kid, as well.
