MT. PLEASANT — Mt. Pleasant Public Library offers Activities at the Library for community school district students on early outs.
This Friday, Jan. 20 from 1:30-2:30 Children’s Department Director Amy Willson invites students to Station Day. Registration is not required.
“We will have four stations that they can rotate through,” Willson said. “One will be our Switch station which is video game station. We’ll have a craft station and a game station … Then we will have a Mad Lib station.”
According to Willson, the second game station will not have video games. Instead, they will offer various board and card games.
While at the library, children also will have the opportunity to utilize the new Maker Station.
“The Maker Station is available at all times that the library is open,” Willson said.
The library designed this area as an opportunity for children to create and explore.
“We provide a variety of items,” Willson said. “Feathers, toilet paper tubes, googley eyes, egg cartons. We kind of use anything we’ve collected.”
A sign above the Maker Station invites Children to utilize their creativity.
“Please use these supplies and your own creativity to make your own … anything!” the sign says.
“Students can make anything they want,” she said. “They can make like a marble run or a diorama. We had somebody make goggles.”
According to Willson, the early out program began in November.
“We had movies in November and December,” she said.
The library will continue Activities at the Library on early out days.
“Children 8 and under must be accompanied by a responsible person over the age of 14 per the library safety policy,” Willson reminds those looking to utilize this resource.
