MT. PLEASANT — The first Light Up the Lake Event was held this past Saturday at East Lake Park in Mt. Pleasant.
“It went even better than we expected! Since it was our first year, we expected around 300 people and we had over 1,000,” Mount Pleasant Area Chamber Alliance Director of Membership Delaney Van Ness said.
Food trucks lined the lake and the crowds formed. A number of the trucks sold out and had to close up before the event ended at 8 p.m.
The complete food truck line up consisted of Big Guy’s BBQ, Brown Box Bakery, Delicious Expressions, Fat Jimmy’s Smokehouse, Full Smoke BBQ, Iowa Brëd, The Food Boss, and The Onion Shoppe.
Despite wind cutting the event short of the Moana movie showing, Van Ness would call the event a success.
The movie will still be shown for the community at a later date. Keep an eye out on the Chamber’s Facebook page for the new date later this summer.
“I’m so thankful for the community support of this event and for all of the wonderful trucks that came out!” Van Ness said, “Look out for events like this in the future.”
