MT. PLEASANT—Inclement weather cut-short the 22nd Annual Mt. Pleasant Marching Band Invitational Saturday evening.
After only six of the 13 bands competed in the rain, the event was cancelled due to safety concerns caused by lightning.
Only one class was able to complete the competition, 1A/2A.
Central Lee took home first, Cardinal took second, Wapello third, and Van Buren County fourth.
Central Lee also took home awards for Best Color Guard, Best Drumline and Best Horn Line.
Despite the weather and coming in fourth, Van Buren’s performance was noteworthy.
This was their first time competing in a marching band competition in 21 years.
