Meet Marilyn Higgins! A word from the new Mt. Pleasant reporter

Hello, all!

I am Marilyn Higgins, the Southeast Iowa Union’s newest reporter, and I’ll be serving the Mt. Pleasant area!

Writing has always been a passion of mine, and it is my honor to use my skills to serve this beautiful community. Here are a few facts about me!

I am a recent graduate of The Evergreen State College of Olympia, Washington, where I studied Creative Writing and History. I also spent a semester in Paris, where I studied French art, history, and language. I have a deep love of music of all kinds, with my main interests being rock, R&B, and jazz.

I love trains, and volunteer at the Midwest Electric Railway, a museum dedicated to the history of the streetcar. In my spare time, I play with model trains, visit museums, and explore the back roads of southeast Iowa.

As a journalist, it is my duty and honor to seek truth and justice for all people. I hope I can serve you well.
