MT. PLEASANT — Despite the weather turning colder and snow covering the ground, Henry County Conservation Department still is hard at work to create fun experiences for men, women, and children during the winter season.
One way the conservation department intends to engage the public this season is with Women. Woods. Wine. Planned for Tuesday, Dec. 5 from 5:30-7 p.m.
The December Women. Woods. Wine. Will offer an opportunity for adults over 21 years of age to learn how pioneers built their homes and even use some of the same equipment themselves.
According to the conservation department, Women. Woods. Wine. is an adult-only club for “ladies looking to join other like-minded individuals to learn new outdoor skills and discuss conservation related topics.”
Preregistration is required for all Women. Woods. Wine. Events at mycountyparks.com at least two days before each meeting.
Attendees will meet at the Oakland Mills Nature Center and enjoy one complimentary glass of wine per person. They are permitted to bring their own beverages to events.
In a similar fashion, the conservation department will offer a Boys. Backwoods. Beer event Thursday, Dec. 7 from 5:30-7 p.m. at the nature center.
The men’s event will offer a similar program about pioneer home building and supply each guest with one can of beer.
Preregistration for this event is required by Dec. 5 at mycountyparks.com
After the adult men and women learn about pioneer home building, the conservation park will welcome everyone to their winter open house Thursday, Dec. 14 from 5:30-7 p.m. at the nature center.
The whole family can enjoy an evening touring the nature center, playing games, doing a scavenger hunt, making ornaments, drinking apple cider and hot chocolate, and competing in an ugly sweater contest.
The ugly sweater contest will even offer a prize to the person with the best ugly sweater.
Preregistration is not required for the winter open house but is appreciated. To register visit mycountrypark.com
