Midwest Old Threshers Reunion offers ample memory-making opportunities
From Grandstand concerts to nostalgic foods to train rides, Old Threshers will keep guests entertained
MT. PLEASANT — Guests will travel from near and far to continue family traditions and create new memories in Mt. Pleasant at Midwest Old Threshers Reunion from Aug. 31- Sept. 4.
The traditional Midwest Old Threshers Reunion will feature everything families have come to love since it began in the 1950s.
The North Village will once again offer great food, guests can catch spelling bee’s and the iron smith at the Log Village, and there is sure to be an opportunity to learn how to square dance at the dance barn.
Even before all that begins, the community and guests can get in the spirit of Midwest Old Threshers Reunion with the traditional Harvest Day Parade through Mt. Pleasant Wednesday, Aug. 30 at 3:30 p.m.
Once things kick off with the parade, the reunion will hit the ground running even before the official start day as they host the Don Carlson Memorial Horse Pull the same day beginning at 7 p.m. in front of the Grandstands.
With the purchase of gate admission the remaining nights of the reunion, attendees can enjoy four nights of big-name country artists for 8 p.m. concerts at the Grandstands.
For those wanting to get the best seat in the house, the Grandstands will open each night at 6:30 p.m.
Thursday, Aug. 31, Crystal Gayle, known for her song “Don’t It Make My Brown Eyes Blue,” will kick off the Grandstands entertainment.
Friday, Sept. 1, “A Little More Country Than That,” singer Easton Corbin will take the stage.
Saturday, Sept. 2, crowds will enjoy a concert by Joe Nichols on the Grandstands stage.
Sunday, Sept. 3, country pop singer and songwriter Dylan Scott will wrap up the Grandstands entertainment for the 2023 Midwest Old Threshers Reunion.
Throughout the day during Old Threshers, other entertaining acts will perform at the Family Tent, Dance Barn, or Heritage Museum A.
Iowan entertainers such as Country Artist Linc Henriksen, Elvis Impersonator Junior Talley, and Bluegrass Artist Annie Savage will keep guests entertained alongside other acts from Nebraska, Wisconsin, and Missouri.
Each day at noon, the Cavalcade of Power will parade steam engines, cars, trucks, tractors, and horses through the Grandstands in a living historical timeline.
When Reunion guests aren’t busy enjoying the variety of entertainment, they can find a number of delicious treats throughout the grounds such as World Famous Methodist Meatloaf, turkey legs, homemade desserts, pancakes, funnel cakes, and much more.
While eating their treats, Old Threshers Reunion guests will find trolley rides, an old fashioned carousel, saloon dancers, train robbers, and many other memory-making opportunities.
