MT. PLEASANT — The excitement of a jam-packed homecoming week for Mt. Pleasant Community High School is right around with boom night, sporting events, theme days, and other fun activities.
With the theme “Maul the Mustangs,” MPCHS will celebrate homecoming week Sept. 18-22.
The week will kick off Monday, Sept. 18 with Monochromatic Day and Boom Band Pep at the high school at 9:45 a.m. Monday will round off with a freshman/sophomore football game versus Burlington at 6 p.m.
Tuesday students are encouraged to show their school spirit with a twin dress up day and cross-country invitational. Tuesday also brings a volleyball match against Washington followed by the traditional junior/senior boys’ homecoming volleyball match.
Seniors dressed as grandparents, juniors dressed as parents, sophomores dressed as teenagers, and freshman dressed as babies will fill MPCHS halls for the Generation Day dress up theme Wednesday.
Thursday they can show their school spirit by dressing up as their favorite celebrity then head off to Boom Night.
Boom night will begin with a booster club supper at 5:30 p.m. followed by the powder puff game at 6 p.m. and the announcement of Royalty Court, Junior Royalty, and the homecoming king and queen.
The day of the big game against Mount Vernon, students will deck out with maroon and gold for Spirit Day.
To further amp up the excitement for the football game beginning at 7:30 p.m., a parade will set out from the WisdomQuest Building at 3:01 p.m.
Anyone interested in participating in the parade needs to speak with Associate Principal Dalton Stone at the high school.
The homecoming fun won’t end with the football game, though. The high school will host a homecoming dance from 8:30-11:30 p.m. Saturday to wrap up a week full of fun and school spirit.
