MT. PLEASANT — With Mt. Pleasant High School’s homecoming just around the corner, school spirit can already be spotted on windows around town. This spirit will only grow as activities in anticipation of the game against Washington run from Sept. 30-Oct. 4.
With the theme “Destroy the Demons,” Monday, Sept. 30 will kick off homecoming festivities for Mt. Pleasant with a “’Merica Monday” dress up day and Boom Day Pep Rally at 1 p.m.
Next, Panthers will rock Tropical Tuesday outfits and recognize volleyball seniors at the game that night. Following the game the junior and senior boys will compete for bragging rights in a best two out of three volleyball match. The Mt. Pleasant Community High School Varsity cross-country team also will head out that day for a meet against Washington.
Wednesday will feature Western wear throughout the schools followed by Throwback Thursday.
Thursday night school spirit will continue to build with Boom Night starting at 6 p.m. with an admission cost of $1, no activity passes will be accepted. The girls will show off their skills on the football field with a powder puff game and the homecoming court, junior royalty, and homecoming king and queen will be announced at Boom Night. A Booster Club supper will precede Boom Night at 5:30 p.m.
In normal homecoming fashion, panthers will show off their school spirit in maroon and gold Friday. The homecoming parade will begin at 3:01 p.m. with the varsity game against the Washington Demons beginning at 7:30 p.m. Parade participants will line up from the WisdomQuest building to the east on Monroe St. Anyone who wants to be in the parade needs to contact Mr. Stone at the High School.
The festive week will wrap up with the homecoming dance Saturday, Oct. 5 from 8-10:30 p.m. at the Mt. Pleasant High School.
