MT. PLEASANT — The Mt. Pleasant Community School District launched a community survey this week to gather input on the traits desired in its next superintendent, with public feedback open through the end of September.
In Monday night’s board meeting, Sept. 8, the board announced the district has contracted Grundmeyer Leader Services to assist with the search and will use the survey results to tailor interview questions and evaluate applicants effectively.
“This survey is set to help us determine what attributes we’re looking for our next superintendent so we can form interview questions,” Board President Angie Blint said.
The survey asks participants to identify their connection to the district — such as student, parent, staff member, or community member — and to share both areas of strength and opportunities for improvement. Respondents are asked to rank the top three professional qualifications they value in a superintendent, such as instructional leadership, community relations, or staff development, as well as the top three personal traits, including approachability, ethics, and communication skills. The survey also invites open-ended feedback and advice for the district’s next leader.
She explained the survey began on Sept. 8 and is being distributed through Infinite Campus, the district’s social media channels, and staff email.
The school board plans to push further outreach “through the chamber,” “the newspaper,” and by placing QR codes at home sporting events, Henriksen added. A board member raised concerns for residents without reliable internet access, suggesting potential workshop sessions at the public library.
The public feedback window runs until Sept. 30. That online survey is available here or on the Mt. Pleasant Community High School Facebook page and district website.
The superintendent search application process remains open through late November, and while Blint noted that they will receive a number of applicants through the service provider, specifics about individual candidates will remain confidential.
