MT. PLEASANT — Thanks to a quick response from multiple emergency response teams, no injuries were reported in a house fire Tuesday afternoon in Mt. Pleasant.
Just after noon Tuesday, Sept. 17, Mt. Pleasant Fire Department, Mt. Pleasant Police Department and Henry County Health Center responded to a structure fire in the 600 block of North Carol Street. While New London Fire was also initially called for the incident, MPFD command canceled their response.
Within 15 minutes, a 13-man firefighting crew was able to contain the fire through quick thinking and an approach that attacked both the front and rear of the home. While no human injuries were reported, the family did lose pets in the fire.
That same day at approximately 2 p.m., the Mt. Pleasant Fire Department responded to a grass fire in the 100 block of Old Highway 34. Trucks returned to the station by about 3 p.m.
