MT. PLEASANT — Following the disappointment of not performing at the Mt. Pleasant Marching Band competition due to inclement weather, MPHS Marching Band took home first and third place awards over the weekend.
The band participated in two competitions Saturday.
At Linn-Mar High School the band received third place in their 3A class alongside a caption award for Best Color Guard.
Later the same day, the band competed at Marion High School and took home first place in the same class.
At Marion they also earned the caption award for Best Color Guard, but they additionally swept the completion as they also took home caption awards for Best Winds, Best Drumline, and Best Drum Majors.
As outstanding as all of those awards are, MPHS’s accomplishments for the day do not end there.
“The evening was highlighted by Mt. Pleasant winning the honor of Best Band in all classes,” said MPHS Marching Band Photographer and Public Relations Representative Dave Schneider.
Oct. 1 the band will continue their competition season at Mark Twain High School in Center, Missouri.
They will compete in four events: parade, indoor guard, indoor percussion, and field.
