MPHS plans to muzzle the Hounds for homecoming
MPHS homecoming week is Oct. 3-7

MT. PLEASANT — A homecoming week full of dress up days, Boom celebrations, sports, royalty and more begins Monday, Oct. 3 for Mt. Pleasant Community High School.
Monday students will pull together their best Adam Sandler looks as they participate in Boom Day Pep, cross country at Hillcrest Academy, and freshman volleyball in Keokuk.
Tuesday the school will fill with red, white, and blue for USA Day and varsity volleyball players will show school spirit as they play in Washington.
Students will dream of warmer days Wednesday as they wear Hawaiian shirts and beach clothes for Beach Day.
Thursday they will take a load off for Pajama Day before pumping up the school spirit at Boom Night.
Boom Night begins at 6 p.m. following the Booster Club Supper at 5:30 p.m.
Admission to Boom Night is $1 and no activity passes will be accepted.
Powder Puff football kicks off Boom Night at 6 p.m. followed by a guest speaker will further rally school spirit after the games and homecoming court will be announced.
In a shift from the original schedule, junior and senior boys volleyball will follow court announcements at approximately 7:45 p.m. in the high school gym.
After turning up the school spirit Thursday night, students will flood the school with Panther Pride in Maroon and Gold for spirit day.
The homecoming parade will begin at 3:01 p.m.
Freshmen football players take the field at 5 p.m. against the Burlington Hounds and the big game, varsity football, begins at 7:30 p.m.
After what MPHS hopes will be a victory, the homecoming dance will take place Saturday 8:30-11:30 p.m.
Admission for the dance can be obtained through the purchase of a $5 homecoming keychain/wristband throughout homecoming week during lunches.
