MT. PLEASANT — City Council met to approve curfew ordinance changes, project spending, and the Annual Tax Increment Financing Report.
Those contemplating breaking Mt. Pleasant curfew ordinance might think twice after the council approved a procedural change to make filing the charge against a breaker of the ordinance stand up in court.
Curfew remains as follows:
15-year-olds and younger shall not be in any public place from 10 p.m.-5 a.m. Sunday—Thursday and 11 p.m.-5 a.m. Friday—Saturday.
16-year-olds through 17-year-olds shall not be in any public place from 11 p.m.-5 a.m. Sunday—Thursday and midnight-5 a.m. Friday—Saturday.
Exceptions include when the minor is with a responsible adult or traveling between home and work, religious, school, political, or government activity.
Exception is also made for minors running emergency errands for a responsible adult.
The council approved a proposal to replace the roof on Saunders Park log cabin.
This proposal awarded a bid to Weiler Builders for $17,400.
The council gave Mayor Steve Brimhall authorization to sign an agreement with Anderson, Larkin & Co., PC to perform the city’s FYE 2023 audit with recommended approval from the Personnel & Finance Committee.
As they look ahead, they also approved annual Tax Increment Financing (TIF) Report for FYE 2024 as follows: $487,000 in District 1, $71,500 in District 2, and $25,000 Districts 3 and 4.
Additionally, funding via internal advance to TIF funds were approved for Harvey Road, East Madison Street, NE Lagoon Forcemain, and Fratco Property—Westgate Estates projects.
These projects are paid for out of the Capital Projects fund and then submitted as TIF debt.
City Council will meet again for regular session on Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 5:30 p.m.
