MT. PLEASANT—A holiday shopping market just for kids is set for Dec. 3 from 8 a.m. to noon, and is currently accepting donations.
All children ages preschool through sixth grade are invited to the Mt. Pleasant Middle School to shop for gifts ranging up to $10, with a max of $50 total spent per child.
“The kids love to pick out something special for each of their family members,” said PTA President Alicia Whalen. “Their faces are the thing you walk away remembering.”
According to Whalen, the PTA uses donations from local business and community members to fill the shop with items for students to purchase for their loved ones.
While the kids shop, parents are invited to browse a bake sale.
The Mt. Pleasant Community Schools Parent-Teacher Association has hosted this special shopping event for nearly 30 years.
To make gift and monetary donations for the shop, contact Whalen at (319) 504-0002 or email mpdistrictpta@gmail.com by Friday, Dec. 2.
Baked good donations can be dropped off at the Middle School Friday, Dec. 2 between 2:30-6 p.m., or interested individuals can contact Nhoth Myers at (319) 931-2900 for an alternative drop-off.
