MT. PLEASANT—Friday, Jan. 20, Mt. Pleasant Police Department released information about their response to an altercation at 1002 W Saunders St. and asked the public for additional information.
Initial reports informed officers that two males fought in the open with a woman pregnant. Additional reports including formation of two children being dragged from a vehicle.
“Upon arrival, officers located just one male and female in the yard,” the statement from Mt. Pleasant Police stated. “They were not overly cooperative.”
Upon contact with the occupants of 1002 W. Saunders St., the investigation revealed a female and a crying child with a blood on his head, despite the initial report from residents that nothing happened.
According to the Mt. Pleasant Police Department, the male suspect, Terron N Wilson, 27 of Mt Pleasant, attempted to prevent officers from conducting an investigation to the safety of the children at the residence.
During Wilson’s resistance and interference, he fought with officers who subsequently tazed the suspect.
“Wilson continued to fight and resist and attempted to kick, head butt, and bite officers,” the statement from the police department said. “He was transported to the Henry County Jail where he was held pending arraignment.”
Officers conducted an investigation, which revealed that Wilson participated in a physical altercation with his girlfriend and children present.
According to the Mt. Pleasant Police Department, during the altercation, Wilson fired a weapon in the house, and the bullet went through the building.
They report that Wilson then obstructed the victim from calling 911 or leaving, fought with family members that came to assist the victim, and provided false information to law enforcement.
Henry County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol, and the Department of Human Services assisted.
For the safety of the children, police took them into custody until they turned them over to their mother.
Police charged Wilson with Interference with Official Acts, causing injury, Assault on a Peace Officer, Child Endangerment, Domestic Abuse Assault, Display of a Weapon, Intimidation with a dangerous weapon, Obstruction of Emergency Communications, and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
The Mt. Pleasant Police Department asks anyone with information to reach out at (319) 385-1450, and reminds the public to call with reports of any suspicious activity.
