Mt. Pleasant Marching Band looks sharp

MT. PLEASANT — After 18 years, the Mt. Pleasant Marching Band will perform in new uniforms thanks to the generous donations of the community.

The music boosters raised $110,000 to purchase new marching band uniforms along with black dresses and tuxedos for the symphonic band and chamber singers.

The band also has a new trailer for carrying these new uniforms.

As for the old uniforms, they have not simply been tossed to the side and forgotten.

Some were taken as souvenirs, and the rest were donated to Goodwill, which has distributed them to 18 other locations to be sold with Halloween costumes.

Keep your eyes peeled as the band steps out in style this season, including the 22nd Annual Mt. Pleasant Marching Band Invitational Sept. 17 beginning at 6 p.m.

Thirteen high school marching bands come to Mt. Pleasant for a field show competition.

Admission to the event is $5 and proceeds go to benefit the music program of all grades in Mt. Pleasant.
