MT. PLEASANT — Community is crucial to small town theaters, and Mt. Pleasant’s is invited to meet many members of the Community Theater community at a picnic.
The theater invites the community to East Lake Park July 21 from 6-9 p.m.
Discussion concerning upcoming events will be an important topic at the picnic, but the focus is to have fun and bring attention to the theater.
The Mt. Pleasant Community Theater was establish in 1969, and due to the pandemic, they have been less active for the past couple of years.
The group, however, is ready to hit the floor running, again and hope this will be a good opportunity for the community to meet those already involved and make connections with new community members wanting to help in the theater.
They have previously performed a wide variety of productions including Time Flies, Blithe Spirit, The Sound of Music, The Kind and I, Beauty and the Beast, and other dramatic and children’s oriented pieces.
“We’re hoping to be able to do more performances this year as well as just small events to keep the momentum going,” Theater board member Jenny Wilerson said.
