WINFIELD — Through the generous partnership of the community, the Winfield-Mt. Union Music Department sent students fifth grade and up to The Lion King in Des Moines, last week.
All of the support from fundraisers and cafe concerts really helped to make this happen, so no WMU students had to pay for their tickets,” Music Director Lindsey Pogmore said. “Thank you to our community for always supporting these kids and these programs.”
From a winter bake sale in December to their Disney themed Dessert Concert last month, the department found support to pay for every student to attend this excursion.
Departing March 30, the music department took two buses to the Civic Center in Des Moines to experience the musical, and tired, but excited students returned around 7:30 p.m.
“It was a fantastic show, and our students did an excellent job representing WMU,” Pogmore said. “We are excited to think about possibilities for next year now!”
“It was SO good,” she said.
