Winfield Historical Society and Museum provides photos of Winfield’s past each week for Beacon readers. Do you know the when, where, who or what seen in this week’s photograph?
Last week’s answer:
Can you name the 1994 Crooked Creek Commodore?
Pictured Albert Schmidt receives recognition as the first Crooked Creek Days Ambassador in 1994 alongside his brother Freddy Schmidt (not pictured).
Albert Schmidt was a well-known member of the Winfield community. He filled the role of postmaster, supported the boys’ basketball team, and shared his knowledge of the community.
“Albert was who sparked my interest in Winfield history when he spoke at a girl scout day camp and at school,” Susan Beard said. “I hope to carry his love for Winfield on to more generations!”
