Winfield Historical Society and Museum provides photos of Winfield’s past each week for Beacon readers. Do you know the when, where, who or what seen in this week’s photograph?
Last week’s answer:
Who is this young lady?
This photo features someone nearly as recognizable as Jolly Saint Nick to the Winfield community: Judy Rawson.
Rawson served as the Winfield Historical Society and Museum’s founding president for 27 years. In 1997 she came up with the idea and by 1998 the society was incorporated. She retired from this position Aug. 1, 2024.
Rawson’s history in Winfield runs deeps and comes with a well-known family history. Her grandparents Verca and Herb Butler ran the Welcome Inn from 1944-1956.
Her family ties are known even further than the Winfield community as her father, Bill Butler, was an award winning cinematographer known for his work on The Conversation, Jaws, three Rocky sequels, and One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.
