NEW LONDON — Some parts of a new school year are fun, others, not so much. New London School district will host two completely different types of get ready for school events.
Aug. 18 at 6 p.m. HJ Nugen Public Library will host a parent meeting.
This meeting is to bring awareness about substance abuse issues which might effect their children.
The Alcohol and Drug Dependency Services of Southeast Iowa hope to encourage parents to come alongside them as they advocate for prevention programs in their schools.
Another less serious event is around the corner, as well.
The New London Community School District Parent Teacher Organization will host an ice cream social at Clark Elementary Aug. 22 at 5 p.m.
This is an opportunity for students to reconnect with friends after summer vacation.
The school also will have 2021-22 school yearbooks available for purchase at the event.
