MT. PLEASANT — It’s that time of year again, teachers and families are preparing for a new school year. Take some time to get to know the newest teachers to the area.
Monique Peck
The passionate Monique Peck begins an adventure as Harlan Elementary School’s new kindergarten through second grade music teacher and kindergarten through fifth grade math interventionist.
For the last 20 years, Peck has taught music for students beginning in kindergarten all the way through 12th grade.
Thanks to heads up from a friend about this position, Peck will continue to follow her passion of teaching children to love music and become kind and compassionate human beings.
About Peck
Where did you grow up?
I grew up in a small town between Stockport & Birmingham, Iowa.
Our mailbox was on our side of the street so I had a Birmingham address but if our mailbox was across the street (gravel road), it would have been a Stockport address.
Where did you graduate?
I graduated High School from Van Buren Community Schools.
Tell us about your family.
My husband and I of 21 years met at Iowa Wesleyan College. We both majored in music & love sports.
We have 3 amazing children together & 3 not so amazing pets.
Not so amazing pets?
We have 3 black labs who chew & eat everything.
Our youngest lab was purchased during the pandemic. Wrigley Rona.
We have NO idea what we were thinking.
I guess just another thing we can blame COVID for.
Jokes aside … we are huge dog lovers. :)
