New things are brewing at The Grange
The Grange tapped their first in-house beer

MT. PLEASANT — Wednesday, The Grange Public House and Brewery hosted an Alive After 5 event to debut their first tap of their in-house brew.
There were some hiccups, not induced from an over consumption of beer.
Just the day before the The Grange was set to host their event, a cooler broke down, and they had to scramble to get everything into different refrigeration units on top of tapping their first brew.
Rolling with the punches, however, has not been a foreign concept to owners Sue and Eric Sorensen who opened The Grange early in 2021 despite the pandemic.
The restaurant prides themselves in using many local products to provide a high quality of food and beverage that fits with their motto of “Grain to Glass and Farm to Fork.”
Currently, the oats for brewing the beers are Iowa grown, and produce a solid wheat ale.
Samples of the inaugural tap made their way through the restaurant for the duration of the event.
Eric Sorensen, who calls himself the Brew Master and his wife the owner, introduced the beer as Hindsight.
“Because you know, hindsight is 20/20,” he said referencing starting this project in 2020.
This is not the Sorensen’s first go around with beer either.
They have made ventures with wineries and Eric Sorensen has brewed many beers in other breweries, but owning their very own space has been a lifelong dream for the couple.
As the Brew Master gave a tour of the brewery side of the restaurant his passion was easily apparent.
The Sorensens have overseen every aspect of their brew from the water processing all the way to the 33 degree refrigerator housing the fresh brews.
The Hindsight brew was extraordinarily fresh as production was a day behind due to the cooler issues before the event.
Within the next week or so, the Sorensens anticipate having nearly all of their brews ready for consumption.
