NL and WMU send large-groups to state
Two Henry County schools receive Division I ratings at District Contest

KEOTA — Following performances at the Southeast Iowa High School Speech Association district contest at Keota over the weekend, Winfield-Mt. Union and New London high schools will send multiple groups to the state level contes next month.
New London High School sent 11 students with five acts to districts Saturday and walked away with a clean sweep.
The following New London large-group acts received Division I ratings which will send them to the IHSSA’s State Contest Feb. 3 at Pleasant Valley High School in Bettendorf:
Ensemble Acting — “Fugue” featuring Averie Senn, Lanie Szewczyk, Abigail Denney, & Matthew Rogers
Ensemble Acting — “Dueling Phobias” featuring Josiah Denney & Reid Bell
Ensemble Acting — “The Pearly Gates” featuring Miah Phillips, Paige Miller & Sydney Kracht
Musical Theatre — “Little Shop of Horrors” featuring Matthew Rogers, Josiah Denney, Lanie Szewczyk, Averie Senn, Abigail Denney & Trayton Schuster
Short Film — “Leper County” featuring Reid Bell, Miah Phillips, Jayden Bergman, Sydney Kracht, & Trayton Schuster
Winfield-Mt. Union also will send students to the state contest as two of their three groups received Division I ratings.
WMU’s will send one group improv and one ensemble acting group to state.
While WMU’s TV News Broadcasting group received a Division II rating for a good performance, they cannot advance to state contest without a Division I rating.
