Ainsworth Free Library hosts first program

Last Thursday, the newly opened Ainsworth Free Library hosted the first, of hopefully many programs for the community.
Mother-daughter duo Amy Sarah and Caroline Richardson shred their experiences with breeding and showing rabbits for 4H.
The Richardsons shared with an attentive crowd of children and parents how they got started, what they’re doing now, and what they plan to do in the future.
“You can know new things and people,” Caroline said of her reason for getting involved with 4-H. “You can be a mentor, … join fun clubs, … and take care of animals.”
There was an open dialogue between the crowd and the presenters, and between the two Richardsons they were able to answer nearly every question sent their way.
Jessup Collier took his role as an inquirer very seriously as he asked many questions throughout.
“How do you learn about bunnies?” Collier asked to break the ice between the audience and Richardsons.
“Read a book about bunnies,” Caroline said.
Amy Sarah intentionally informed the captive audience that if they were to find a bunny in the wild they need to let it be.
If they were to find a deceased bunny, it should be left alone, and DNR should be informed for potential disease tracking.
Collier unwittingly made sure the program ended on a lighthearted note with his last question.
“Do you have an app?” Collier asked.
While the Richardson family does not use an app, some others do use apps to track their bunnies nutrition and health.
The library is hoping to do a reptile program next, but invite the community to bring their ideas to them.
“We just want people to get involved in reading again,” library volunteer Sherrie Hazen said.

The volunteers of Ainsworth Free Library are excited to share the space with the community and look forward to future events.
