MT. PLEASANT — Country music fans waited with bated breath at the Alive After Five get together at Temple Theater on Wednesday, as the 2022 Midwest Old Threshers music lineup was announced to the public.
Those in attendance were not left disappointed. Chief Executive Officer Terry McWilliams announced a packed lineup for the event, which will take place over the first weekend of September.
“This year we wanted to try to mix it up,” said McWilliams. “We've got four days, let's give them a little bit of everything.”
On Thursday, Sept. 1, Old Threshers mainstay Leeroy Van Dyke will renew his Country Gold Tour, a familiar start to the festivities.
“Country Gold has been a big staple for us,” McWilliams said. “I think this will be Leeroy's 19th performance at Old Threshers over the years, and he's still going strong at 92.”
Also performing during the Country Gold Tour that Thursday will be Jimmy Fortune and the Malpass Brothers.
On Friday night, the Bellamy Brothers will headline. Popular duo “Maddie and Tae” will play on Saturday, and Russell Dickerson will close things out on Sunday.
McWilliams also announced the grand marshals for this year’s Harvest Day parade. The Wissman Family, another Old Threshers staple, will lead the way.
“Their first year at Old Threshers was my first year,” McWilliams said. “When they first came it was mom and dad and 11 kids. Now it's mom and dad, and with the extended family, 39 members.”
McWilliams says he’s not sure if all 39 will be there to lead the parade, but that he expects a big number.
Tickets for the Old Threshers reunion went on sale Thursday. For more information, visit oldthreshers.org.
