HILLSBORO — Following Thanksgiving weekend, all over Henry County residents are charging full-speed ahead into Christmas cheer, including those in Hillsboro.
The Sunday following Thanksgiving, children brought recent photos of themselves as they gathered for Kids Time at the Hillsboro Public and created Christmas ornaments to take home just in time to decorate their trees.
The holiday season will offer other opportunities to make memories in Hillsboro as Santa will make a visit to city hall Dec. 10 at 1 p.m.
The afternoon will include cookies and coco along with an opportunity for children 10 years old and younger to receive a special gift from Santa.
Those wishing to receive a gift for their child should call 319-253-4465 by Dec. 5 to sign up.
Santa will happily take photos with all present at his visit to Hillsboro City Hall.
In addition to visiting with Santa, residents of Hillsboro are invited to celebrate the season with the annual Christmas light contest.
According to Mona Archer, judging for the lights contest will begin Dec. 16 and winners will receives awards of $100, $50, and $25 for first, second, and third place respectively.
Looking at previous years’ results, Chris Freeman might be the person to beat when it comes to the Christmas light contest as the first place winner in 2022 and 2020 and second place winner in 2019.
