MT. PLEASANT — After a break from wind energy conversations in Henry County following a moratorium approval by the Board of Supervisors in April, the Henry County Planning and Zoning Commission will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, Sept. 17 at 6 p.m. in the third-floor courtroom of Henry County Courthouse on the subject.
This meeting will focus on proposed amendments to the alternative energy ordinances which are available on the Henry County website, www.henrycountyiowa.us
For those interested in speaking at the meeting, the Planning and Zoning Commission meeting rules state that they must sign in on a list with their name and address. The chairperson will recognize each person from the list when it is their time to speak.
Those speaking are expected to stand, if able, state their name, address, and/or corporation they represent before commencing with their three-minute allotted time. The chairperson may extend these three minutes at their discretion. The board will not engage in debate with the public, and they may ask questions of the public during this meeting.
The public may ask the chairperson questions and the chairperson may direct those questions to the appropriate people as they see appropriate.
Additional rules discourage disruptive behavior such as interrupting others, applauding, signs, and placards. Vulgar, derogatory, or insulting comments will not be permitted, and breaking the rules could result in a person forfeiting their right to speak.
“If order cannot be maintained the meeting will adjourn and all remaining business will be tabled,” the rules also state.
