Public Health Director announces retirement
Henry County seeks applicants to fill role

MT. PLEASANT — Henry County Public Health Director Shelley Van Dorin announced plans to retire from her position effective July 3 at the Henry County Board of Supervisors Department Head meeting last week.
Van Dorin will take an early retirement package at the beginning of the new fiscal year after serving in the capacity of Public Health Director ever since the entity moved from Henry County Public Health Center to a county department July 1, 2018.
“We are advertising for my job,” Van Dorin said. “I hope to hire somebody by May 1 So they can give their month notice and then they can start following me on June 1.”
According to the job listing on the county website, “The ideal candidate will be a registered nurse with at least 2-years of experience in public health or a public health related field. Candidates with a bachelor’s degree in a public health related field with 3-years of experience also will be considered.”
The county will take applications including cover letters, resumes, and application forms until 4:30 p.m. April 12. A job description and an application form can be obtained at www.henrycounty.iowa.gov or from the Henry County Public Health Office.
