MT. PLEASANT — Henry County Sheriff’s Office responded to multiple single vehicle accidents throughout rural Henry County, this month, which resulted in citations for the operators.

Jerry Schlarbaum, 44 of Salem, sustained severe injuries and received medical transport from the scene of the accident.
“During the course of this incident and following investigation, Jerry was determined to be operating the motorcycle in a reckless manner putting other people's safety and property at risk of probable danger/damage/injury,” Officer Aaron Aplara wrote in the traffic ticket. “Due from driver actions, license status, and physical condition. This ultimately resulted in totaling damage to his motorcycle and severe injury to his person.”
According to the traffic ticket document, Schlarbaum showed indicators of intoxication or impairment such as bloodshot water red eyes and an odor of alcohol on his breath.
“Admissions were also made by Jerry and others to him having consumed multiple alcoholic beverages this evening prior to driving,” Aplara stated in the report.
Authorities later charged Schlarbaum with Reckless Driving, Failure to Maintain Control, and Motorcycle License Violations.
