Remembering the words of hope
By Pastor Dave Forrester, Trenton Missionary Church

Then they remembered His words.” Luke 24:8
Pretty simple words to begin an article. Remembering something someone said. Do you remember the words your high school teacher said that would impact your life? What about that one phase the preacher used last week in his sermon? Remember the words you said at the altar when you married?
These particular words were spoke by Christ but were forgotten during the devastating days of the arrest, trial, crucifixion and death of Jesus. All their hopes were dashed and disillusioned.
Many people have gone through life and had their hopes crushed by a bad marriage, abusive parents or many other situations.
Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James and some others had their hopes dashed and yet they discovered the risen Christ at the empty tomb.
This past Easter Sunday, I was blessed by strangers, early in the morning. Minding my own business when a church bus passed me and stopped to wish me a happy Easter. Shortly afterward a car passed me and someone rolled down their window to holler to me the words 'Happy Easter.”
Now that the event has passed, we go on with our daily lives. We have eaten the ham and the chocolate bunnies. Our families have returned home. Are we able to remember the words of Jesus?
'And He said, The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and He must be killed and on the third day be raised to life. (Luke 9:22).”
These were the words of Jesus that changed their disillusionment to hope.
What words of Jesus give you hope?
How about the words He said in John 14 -
'Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me (verse 1).”
He also said in verse 6 - 'I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me,”
Let us all remember His words!
