MT. PLEASANT — It has been a hot week with temperatures in the 90s and irritation is bound to rise especially as the county continues road construction.
County Engineer Jake Hotchkiss gave the Henry County Board of Supervisors a roads update this past Tuesday.
The board approved a Fuel Bid Letting date of July 7 and a new safety agreement for two-foot paved shoulders with rumble strips for X-23.
According to Hotchkiss territory operators bladed 170th Street shoulder pull and complete the rock contract with Douds.
Work was done on Franklin Avenue north of Trenton this week, and the crossroad pipe on 275th Street has been replaced.
The long waited construction of the salt shed for the roads department is underway.
The road work continues on W55 north and is closed to traffic north of Wayland.
The culvert contractor completed work and now the grading contractor returns to the site.
Backing filling of this culvert will begin this week.
Bridge 105 on Winfield Avenue is undergoing culvert replacement and is therefore closed.
The work of removing the crumbling bridge is already in action, and excavation is expected to begin later this week.
So, with the warm weather travelers still need to plan for construction, but the public can take heart knowing that despite the high temperatures work is underway.
