MT. PLEASANT — On behalf of the Mt. Pleasant Music Boosters, seventh and eighth grade band director Adam Creager accepted a $2,150 donation from Addington Place’s most recent Lunch For A Cause, “Winter Blues BBQ Drive Thru.”
“The money raised by Addington Place for the music department will go toward purchasing new sound equipment for music classes across the district,” Creager said. “Combined with some recent grant money, we have just installed a new sound system in the middle school choir room and will purchase portable Bluetooth speakers for our elementary music classrooms. The rest will be put toward installing fixed room sounds systems in the high school music room.”
“A huge thank you to everyone who turned out to purchase meals and thanks to Cody Flietner and his staff for agreeing to help us,” Creager said.
“The community does so much for us, helping out by volunteering at our events like the show choir and marching band invitationals, supporting us with patron donations, and encouraging their students to be involved in music,” he added.
This is the largest amount raised with the “Winter Blue BBQ Drive Thru,” in the last three years.
Addington Place hosts a new Lunch For A Cause fundraiser nearly every month to raise funds for a variety of programs in the community by selling hot lunches.
Other organizations that have benefited from these fundraisers include Mt. Pleasant Childcare Center, Iowa Wesleyan University: Friends of Music, Old Threshers, War Sucks for Children, National T.T.T Society, Help to Others, and P.E.O.
Currently, the Lunch For A Cause program has raised over $10,000 in donations for local organizations.
