MT. PLEASANT—Elementary Classrooms celebrated Read Across America and Dr. Seuss last week with dress up days, guest readers, and enthusiasm.
Winfield Elementary celebrated Read Across America Week with the assistance of their Parent Teacher Organization.
Thanks to the PTO, WMU elementary students each received a book of their choice to celebrate.
WMU teachers also celebrated with creative door decorations. They honored Dr. Seuss with many of their unique decorations while students created Dr. Seuss Character crafts.
Students also enjoyed Seuss Soup as a snack in honor of Dr. Seuss birthday.
In Mt. Pleasant, Addington Place partnered with Mt. Pleasant Childcare Center to celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday and Read Across America.
A resident, Ms. Irene, visited the childcare center and read Oh the Place You’ll Go and Cat in the Hat.
According to an Addington Place representative, “Irene brought two of Dr. Seuss' books to life with her storytelling to the kids.”
Lincoln Elementary in Mt. Pleasant celebrated with dress up days which included crazy sock day, school spirit day, ready my shirt day, and red, white, and blue day.
Additionally, Lincoln welcomed guest readers into the school to spark excitement for reading, last week.
WACO elementary students celebrated reading a little differently.
A ninja theme invaded as staff and students dressed as ninjas to celebrate Read-A-Million Minutes.
Staff even created mini ninjas which they hide around the school. Students that found the ninjas turned them in for special prizes.
