SALEM - A severe rainstorm, which created zero visibility, is to blame for a vehicle leaving the roadway and its two passengers being taken to the hospital.
On Friday, July 5, Dailah Marie Johnson, 17, of Burlington, was driving along the intersection of Jackson and Pioneer Streets in Salem when she missed a slight right turn, causing her vehicle to leave the roadway and go into the ditch. The vehicle continued through the ditch and came to rest in a drainage creek where the vehicle suffered disabling damage.
The driver and a juvenile passenger in the vehicle were transported to the Henry County Health Center for evaluation while two other passengers in the back seat did not report injury. All occupants were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash and no charges were filed as severe weather was determined as the cause of the accident.
