MT. PLEASANT — This past week Henry County Sheriff’s Office responded to two vehicle accidents. The first occurred Saturday, Sept. 23 near Winfield and the second took place Tuesday, Sept. 26 near rural Trenton Saturday.
In the first few moments of Saturday, Sept. 23 at approximately 12:47 p.m. the sheriff’s office received news of a multiple vehicle accident with injuries in the 2500-grid of 130th Street near Winfield.
As they arrived, authorities found a dirt bike had collided head-on with a go-cart in the roadway “due to driver related factors and no/minimum equipment lighting in use.”
Both drivers, Cody Parker, 33, and Ashley Egley, 33, both of Winfield suffered injuries as well as one other occupant. All parties were medically transported from the scene.
“This is believed to be and is being handled as an alcohol related accident and still is currently under investigation,” Henry County Sheriff’s Office stated in a news release.
Charges and citations are pending. A state accident report was completed.
Only a few days later, just before 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26, the sheriff’s office received a report of a single vehicle accident in the 1800-grid of Franklin Avenue near rural Trenton.
Upon Arrival and investigation, authorities found the vehicle had left the roadway to left and entered a timber area “due to driver related factors and actions.”
The driver, Craig Wibstad, 74, of Trenton suffered injuries and was medically transported from the scene. He was charged with Failure to Maintain Control and a state accident report was completed.
The Sheriff’s Office received assistance from Henry County EMS, Mt. Pleasant Fire Department, Iowa State Patrol, Winfield first responders, Winfield Police Department and community members for these incidents.
